Okay so I dont get to make this choice often because the Air Force doesnt pay me shit, so I wanna make the right one.

Currently doing a few things to my rig, adding the good ole Red Green Blues to my computer, bought a new case and got one more thing on my mind before I have to save up again, they are both "around" the same price but I cannot make a decision on it.

Currently looking at a Asus Strix 1080TI or a Asus ROG PG278VQ monitor.

My current rig:
i7 7700k
EVGA 1080 ACX 3.0
32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX
Z270H Mobo
WD Black 3tb
250GB 850 Evo SSD
annnndddd the monitor isssssssss: Asus VG278HQ

shitty pic but thats not the point of this post

As someone who is unintelligent in this field, I know that graphics card prices are through the roof right now(at least they were) so I feel like with that information, a monitor might be smarter?
13 or Adam will correct me if I'm completely wrong.

I have my ways of getting stuff cheaper than the prices everyone pays, I just cant decide on where to put my money at, I want a really nice display but I also want to crunch alot of frames. Also both of these items are $700+

Go for the monitor. Wait for the 1100 series before upgrading your GPU.
Also why is your GPU in the bottom slot?

Depends on what monitor you want to upgrade to.

That 1080 will pump out 1440p probably high refresh rate too. [I'm not to keen on my FPS's in games anymore]

I currently have a 1080 and it does 4k just fine.

So with that in mind, I would say monitor first, then GPU upgrade later on.

I play at 1440p 21:9 (3440x1440) @ 100Hz and my 1080 just about cuts it in higher end AAA titles. So it really depends on what you want more.

I'd grab a monitor personally, then look at a GPU once the new gen are out, I wouldn't go from a 1080 to a Ti myself so.

I'd go for the monitor. I personally had a 1080 FTW and went to a 1080 Ti SC2 and honestly wasn't a big improvement for a lot of games. Cost to improvement isn't worth it imo. Also new GPUs are on the horizon.
