Into the Dead
Platform: IPhone, IPod, IPad, Android
Genre: Action
Release Date: December 6, 2012
Developer: PikPok
Publisher: PikPok
Synopsis
In a world overrun with the Dead, you have survived but for how long?
Into the Dead throws you into the gruesome world of the zombie apocalypse where there are no second chances. Do what you have to in order to stay alive, keep moving as fast as you can, and protect yourself by any means necessary. When the Dead are rising, run!
Gameplay
A game I loved when it was released, Into the dead is an action based game where you try to run as far as you can dodging zombies and picking up weapons. The game is based on you surviving a helicopter crash during a zombie apocalypse. You will start out running with a small amount of zombies where you are tasked to try to stay out of their way or you will be stopped and eaten by them. There are weapons scattered around such as a handgun or even a chainsaw. Each weapon has a certain amount of ammunition and may take a shot or 2 to get a zombie. The game is kind of a stage like game where if you run a certain amount of time the environment will change making it harder with more zombies for example at the starting of the game you will be in an open field with clear visibility of zombies and weapons until you reach the corn field where its mostly just about luck and not getting hit by a zombie. On the side you will also have challenges to complete that will reward you with money allowing you to purchase new weapons that will be added to the weapons scattered around the map. Missions can vary to you killing zombies to running a specific amount in 1 run. There is no customization for your character since you actually never see him but there are power-ups that you can purchase at the start of each run. You can purchase a head start that brings you to 1000m or a dog that will attack any zombie in front of you. There is also a marketplace where you can purchase weapons only attainable in the store or a new look for each zombie. There is also a selection of different dogs that you can have running beside you that you can purchase with real money.
Graphics
The game has great graphics, It may be different for each system you use it on but for me the graphics were actually quite good. The graphics actually make the game feel great and really horror like. It's a really dark game and set in the night so people may say it's not going to be the best but the grass and shadows on the zombies are pretty awesome. You can see the sun or moon trying to shine through the clouds but doesn't quite make it but enhances the visuals of the game at a phenomenal level. Every weapon has a great look to it and actually looks real when using it for example chainsawing a zombie you can see the chain spinning around with blood going on it. Talking about zombies they have noticeable effects to them such as their really cool glowing eyes that you can see from like a mile away and just how they walk. They have blood dripping down their clothing that's all torn apart and they just look so zombie like. There is also objects throughout the game that are not really usable but actually move and make the game look even better such as the wind turbine near the start of the game. The graphics and environment actually go against you making zombies actually really hard to see because of how dark the game actually is. Other than that the game runs incredibly smooth with no lag.
Controls
At the very start of the game when you first install the game you will have 2 options to play the game. 1 being you actually moving your phone side to side moving your character as you run through the horrors of the game and 2 where you tap and hold the left or right side of your phone moving them of course right or left. You will also have to tap your screen if you have a weapon in your hands allowing you to shoot and kill the zombies in front of you. These settings cannot be changed but you can pick motion movement or tap movement in the settings. Personally I believe moving your phone side to side is a lot better and more interesting rather than tapping the side of your phone for movement.

I personally like the game and would recommend it to people, however I think there should be a couple more perks for the run, one of them being a safety vest that either lasts a certaiun amaount of time or it has a certain amount of hits. Prices should be higher depending on how good the perk is. Overall I'd rate this 7/10
