Hi guys

I'm currently looking for a software that can be installed on all company equiptment which gives you the ability to track that equipment at all times. Thats the main feature we need as can use office 365 for file transfers and remote locking of the equipment.

Any help would be appreciated

What for loss theft prevention?

We really need more details than that... If it's a desktop or laptop which remains onsite I would just use a kensington lock for the equipment.

The problem is with 'software' is the machine will need an internet connection to be able to tell you where that client is. Think of it if you've lost your phone and you're tracking it via your data plan, the thief only has to turn flight mode on and that's that device gone forever.

I don't understand what you mean by Office 365 either. There's no such thing as 'remote locking' I don't think without using a third party app I'm sure however Windows Hello offers some good security features.

What kind of equipment? Is it inside or outside your network?

Just understand that what you're asking for is a big project. Device management is not simple and there are hundreds of different products to choose from. I use Intune MDM and O365 to manage a bunch of iOS devices, but it might not work for you.

We are starting to use intune MDM with O365. The only thing holding us back is the hosted exchange as we still host our own. Like you say you can manage devices with it but i need something mainly to track location across the three platforms we are only a small company around 50 devices all together.

Are these ALL iOS devices? If you use DEP, you can get their location when you activate lost mode from the Azure portal: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If you are unfortunate enough to have the same Apple ID on all your devices, you can use Find My iPhone in iCloud for crappy tracking. You don't want to set things up this way.

Intune doesn't have geolocation for computers and I don't believe any other MDM does, either.

For Exchange, you don't have to use Exchange Online. You can set up hybrid if you don't want to part with your on-prem.
