mightycarmods wrote I'll be working all summer, which I'm not complaining about. The summer is the busiest time of the year for me. Working as automotive tech, people are coming in getting there vehicles ready for travel and/or people come in for flat repairs or tires. My shop is right next to a interstate, so we get alot of people traveling through.

I'll be driving from Northern California to Southern California next week for vacation, about 6 and a half hours on the freeway. I've done it before, but any thoughts on what to do before with any old car(96 Jeep Grand Cherokee)
Was planning on getting an oil change and going over all my fluids. Tires are pretty new but checking air and for any nails and such. Any other things to check for/get done?

I normally get a full service before I go on any trips "93 Ford Explorer with 430k miles"

Yeah, basic maintenance stuff you want to have done. Like oil change, making sure fluid levels are good, checking the tire tread levels, having an alignment check wouldn't hurt. I work at Firestone, and people come in before they travel and get a complete vehicle inspection to make sure everything is fine.

Yeah I was thinking of going to jiffy lube this time as the offer an oil change and all fluids and inspection... If I do that, I imagine it'll be fine but my car has been running smoothly, just basic stuff then it's all excitement for disneyland
