I've had two 24 inch monitors for a few years now and I wouldn't trade them for anything, I hate playing games on any other screens. 24 inch monitors are the perfect size if you're really focusing on gaming, and are also perfect for regular PC needs.
The reason I bought one so many years ago is because that's what they used in MLG, cringy I know, but they used them for a reason, they are the best. You could probably find a good one for a decent price, I say go for it!

What monitor are we talking about? If you're going from a 1080p monitor to another 1080p monitor, you're not upgrading, just wasting money really. Especially since the monitor you currently have is a perfectly good 1080p monitor. Stand is trash, but it's $100 so what can you expect.

Again, panel size alone doesn't dictate whether a monitor is worth it or not, so upgrading just for a monitor that is slightly bigger is not worth it. Upgrading to a monitor with higher resolution, or refresh rate, or even just more/better features that also happens to be bigger, could potentially be worth it. It depends entirely on the monitor you'd be upgrading to.

Like I said though, 'upgrading' from a decent 1080p monitor like you have, to another 1080p monitor that is slightly larger would be a waste of $100+.

You're paying at least $120 for a similar monitor to your current one, but slightly larger. You could maybe get $70-80 for your current monitor, depending on condition so you're still like $50 out of pocket, that's a waste IMO. If you think it's worth it, you can go for it but I definitely wouldn't. I prefer 22" for 1080p anyway. If you're going to upgrade monitor, I'd go for a higher resolution or refresh rate. That will come with larger size anyway since most 144Hz 1080p monitors are 24", and higher resolution monitors are typically 24-27" or larger anyway.
