In the market to purchase a laptop and a chromebook for the wife and me and was just wanting to get some input on what direction to go.

On the chromebook wanting basic daily use on it, range on price is 200-300$ not very knowledgeable on them so wanting input from more tech savvy people.

The laptop I want something thin 12in to 15in screen normal daily use, light light gaming on it, to me the laptop seems like more of a pain to find just wanting input on this also price range is anywhere from 500-800 can go up if need be.

Thanks for any input!!

I don't have much advice to give but I hope I can leave my comment here so I get the notifications because I myself am in the market for a laptop for the same reasons as you and it beats making two topics for it!

Hope that's cool and happy hunting bro

Upper end of your price range, but the best laptop I've found is the Dell G7 15.

I'm trying to find the best laptop for around $1k and I'm between the MSI G73 8RC and the Dell G7. They both run on a 6 core processor, the Dell has a better graphics card but is smaller and has less memory. On Dells website this configuration is running $879.

EDIT:
Best deal for me was the Lenovo Y530. The base price is like $750 but they allow you to upgrade the processor to the 6 core. This is the specs on the one I just bought:

Intel Core i7-8750H 6 core Processor (2.20GHz, up to 4.10GHz with Turbo Boost, 9MB Cache)
Windows 10 Home 64
English
None
8GB DDR4 2666MHz (1 Dimm)
HM370
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
Fullsize Backlit Keyboard - English
YES WITH WHITE BACKLIT
720p HD camera with dual array microphone
15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS anti-glare, 250nit
1TB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm, 2.5", SATA3
TYPE C
135 watt AC
3 Cell Li-Polymer, 52.5 Wh
100/1000M Ethernet Card
Lenovo 802.11 AC (2 x 2) & Bluetooth 4.1
HDMI
Black
TEXTURE
1 Year Depot or Carry-in

It is currently marked down $200, then with the Honey extension for Chrome I saved $68 so in total I paid $850.02 after tax. This to me is the best mix of the two that I mentioned above. It has the same stats as the MSI minus screen size, but more storage like the G7 all for cheaper

I think you can go to PCspecialist and you can custom build a Laptop there. Im not sure what the price ranges are but i think theyve got a section for budget gaming laptops. Correct me if im wrong.
