I play for a few hours after work each day, have dinner with my girlfriend and kid and my and my gf sometimes play xbox together.

Do things in moderation, you're an adult.. I'm sure you can manage. Unless you take it on full-time and try make a living out of it but then again you have to be one of the best at whichever game you're playing.

How does one become a "harecore" gamer though

But frfr. If you think you can multitask then try it for a day or 2 if you seem like it can't be done then don't do it.
I don't live by the word can't and I sure as he'll don't like saying it but at some point that word can't is an option.

I work but still game atleast 4-5 hours a day if I ain't too tired after my shift. Then on the weekend I still game majority of those days so yea I still consider myself a pretty hardcore gamer. Now if I didn't have a job I probably would be putting in the 10+ hours of gaming each day just because I love it that much.

I play everyday and I work everyday mon-sun (sometimes I work sat-sun) but I have a girlfriend sometimes she doesn't like me playing but I still give her attention and fulfill her needs lol.

the reason I say this is because I have tried to balance gaming and a job but every single time the job outweighs the games. once I would get off work i'd already be tired and wouldn't even wanna look at a game.

It's sad to say as you get older you get more responsibilities to worry about so you may only be able to hop on the game for an hour or so, then the next day only like 10mins.

i have work everyday sometimes ever other day but i still hardcore game and i tend to go out with my girlfriend and friends, its a matter of how lazy are you which would automatically be a no, so to me yes you can be a hardcore gamer and have a life

Hardcore gaming, no. But you definitely can play casually when you get some free time
