It has been six long years since the third installment of the Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuild movie series was released, and about five since we first got word of a fourth, final installment. At the premiere of the movie Mirai no Mirai (Mirai of The Future), a short announcement trailer for the final of the Rebuilds was shown prior to the movie, of which can bee seen below.
Coming in 2020, we will finally get a much anticipated conclusion to the Evangelion movie series!
For those unfamiliar with the Neon Genesis Evangelion content, originally you had the anime TV series consisting of 26 episodes originally released back in late 1995. The Rebuild movie series began in 2007 and is not a continuation of the TV series, instead, is a standalone, retelling the story whilst offering a less harsh platform for people to watch as, in comparison, the symbolism and philosophical representations are toned down.
If you are wanting to watch an exceptional series, then I would highly recommend watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, preferably the TV series followed by the movie continuationtitled "End of Evangelion", and then, return to watch the Rebuild movies series at a later date.
