Respectfully ignore anybody who says 'protein shakezzzzz'

Eat your carbs, carbs, carbs and more carbs. Best thing I did to growth after months of not growing was dropping my protein a bit and upping my carbs majorly.

Unfortunately the truth is you have to force feed yourself day in day out regularly to keep your physique that you build and to build on top of that.

Acid reflux? Me too. Drink your milk. Scoop of protein with a pint of milk morning and one at night then drink another pint or two during the day. Milk is great, protein fat and carbs and it'll kill off your acid reflux.

Eat your carbs. Rice, noodles, potatoes there's no special carb to make you grow.

Forget all this glycemic index b0ll0cks that you might read. Counting your calories and limiting your bulk calories is nonsense if you're struggling to gain weight and muscle mass.

Train heavy, compound lifts 5x5 and add in some 3x8 isolation exercises too. Don't do endless sets of cable crossovers or triceps kickbacks and expect you to grow.

I have to say this has been very useful. I am going to take a protein shake morning and night as you have suggested (I have chocolate smooth myprotein whey)

I do mainly consume carbs however the amount is not nearly enough and so I will also try and work on adding some more.

Thank you for this man!

Also, how often would you suggest a 5x5?

Eat small meals but 6/7 of them. 500 cals a meal is nothing and that's easy 3-3.5k there.

Do your 5x5 weekly.
Chest tris
Back bis
Legs
Shoulders
Arms

5x5 flat Bench press
5x5 deadlift and/or rows
5x5 squats
5x5 military press
Then arm days I like heavy hammer curls for forearm growth which most people lack.

Shakes are probs the best route especially if your not hitting above 2k cals a day, preferably have them before and after a session or with meals is my suggestion, but always remember to bulk healthy.
