I've had a friend put together a list for PC parts and I'm wondering if these are actually good. If you could recommend any better parts I would appreciate it. My budget is about £500-800.

No, CPU and motherboard don't make sense together. Kaby Lake is a bad choice anyway IMO, grab a Coffee Lake i5. Also, the cooler is not compatible since that's the AM4 version, it only comes with an AM4 mounting kit AFAIK. £100 is over-priced for 8GB RAM, even DDR4.
Would be useful if we knew why you were wanting to upgrade, but assuming a CPU upgrade is the way to go, this is what I'd suggest;

CPU: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£159.54 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£19.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Motherboard: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£82.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Memory: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£137.99 @ Aria PC)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£83.94 @ Aria PC)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (Purchased For £0.00)
Video Card: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (Purchased For £0.00)
Case: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£69.98 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £554.43
Included an SSD because you're definitely going to want to add one. The 860 EVO is a great SSD, and £85 for a 500GB model is a ridiculously good price.
