Hello everyone,

I am planing on getting a gaming PC in about a week. I was looking at options for monitors. The specs I have chosen so far:

Video card - 1070ti
CPU - i5 8400 6core 4Ghz
Power supply - 850 watt
8GB ram
1TB Hard drive

I was told that a 1080p would be best for the combo I have while someone else was telling me a 1440p will be best. Will the CPU be strong enough to handle the 1440p easily? Will I be able to push my GPU all the way?

You could do but I'd just stick with the 1080p

1440p is less demanding on the CPU than 1080p. So, yeah, an i5-8400 would be perfectly adequate for 1440p. A GTX 1070Ti would be overkill for 1080p.

Assuming you haven't bought anything yet, I'd hold off. New NVidia GPUs are less than a month away and new Intel CPUs are supposed to be launching soon. At the current price, Intel just doesn't make sense over Ryzen anyway.

Also, you're going to want an SSD, and make sure the PSU is good quality, wattage is irrelevant if it's shit quality.

It will be mostly Alienware. Been doing a lot of research into them. I decided to go with the R7 and the only thing I'm switching out is the fan. They are overpriced on some stuff but they have been having deals going on. What is the purpose of a SSD?
