Now i was gonna post this reply on the new ea "promise money spent worth it" in the news section but i thought why not post this as a rant because it seems like a rant. I appreciate all responses given so correct me if im wrong. Also this isnt gonna make sense so prepare.
Microtransactions took the gaming industry a bit downhill. But yall don't have an degree to design a game so you honestly can't say nothing to them. Life ain't fair. If you don't like it then that's your opinion. Don't buy the game. Don't hate on a company when you aint behind the scenes making these games. Their hard working people wanting to make money like everyone else. Every game is good in there own way. Just look at callofduty. People say this is their last chance. Trust me its not. Even if it doesn't meet expectations they will continue to sell no matter what you people say to them. Same thing goes for fortnite. If your not good at it you don't need to hate on it the game is just not made for you. Find a game you like theres millions of them even a game that has 0 people playing it. It can still be fun. Making a game isn't easy at all. You think you can make the game better but this is the real world guys. Coding and stuff isn't easy. Professionals find it hard at times to. But at the same time I can't stop the hate they can't stop receiving hate. But you can never make a gamer happy now days. Gaming has went from being fun to simply just trash talking competitiveness. That's not a direction I was hoping we would've tooken but we are at that mark. We also need to stop blaming the kids. Blame the parents for buying a rated mature game for there kids. Kids now days are born around people cussing/arguing mainly if they watch youtube of course there gonna cuss in all these games. Guys please for me don't blame the kids.

The fact you think the devs are the ones who rake in all this cash is just naive... its the publishers. The devs at Sledgehammer or Treyarch or Bungie aren't rich. The higher ups at Activision are.
You can easily make gamers happy, not sure why you think most people aren't happy with Fortnite? 1 in every 60.8 people on the planet have played Fortnite. The reasons we like it compared to say Destiny 2 or Call of Duty WW2 is that the micro-transactions dont mean anything firstly, they are all cosmetic and are appealing and in some cases i think worth it. Secondly the game is fun, fast paces and although its the same map, they change it weekly, add challenges weekly, have new modes weekly. The bugs and glitches get patched almost immediatly not 6 months later like in some games.
Fortnite have changed the way Gaming as an industry is ran, we are now seeing games take things they are doing and try to emulate them (Rocket Pass, Battle Royale games, Free content). What some of these organisations fail to see is that F2P is the model every game should be, but of course when you have greedy guys at the top it wont be the case in most organisations. and of course this isn't right for all games because some take years to develop and giving them away for free is not going to work for them (RDR2, FO4/76,ES6,GTAV) but games like FIFA,Madden and Call of Duty easily could make their money and more of it in my opinion by putting the game out for free and selling cosmetics and camoes etc.

Fifa 18 has sold around 7.43 million copies for PlayStation 4 and 1.8 million for Xbox One. That's almost 10 million copies excluding PC versions, Xbox 360 and PS3.
10 million x $60 = 600 million dollars
I'm sorry but no game in the world costs even a quarter of that to produce, especially considering Fifa is essentially the same game every year with very similar engines. Not to mention EA make multiple games a year; Fifa, Madden, UFC, Battlefield Etc.
Now on top of that, they have the disrespect to add in microtransactions which is literally virtual gambling with pixels. How does a pack of pixels that has no physical value, equate to $3? It doesn't.
Not to mention, these virtual coins that you can buy allow you to purchase better players, versions, attribute cards and create a pay to win mentality.
When I'm playing Fifa and I come across a full TOTY team, I know the player has spent a significant amount of real life money because it's physically impossible to earn that many coins just by playing matches.
Don't even get me started on CSGO and the skins that cost over $200 because they're "rare" or have a specific camo. Finding a diamond is rare, a set of pixels isn't.
Seriously, if you want to have fun playing a game then play casual. If you want a competitive enviroment with the goal being to win, play competitive game modes.

I feel like a majority of people have been gaming for a huge portion of their life, and they really want something special. We want to feel like we're kids again, we want a game like Mw2 or Halo 3 to just waste our hours away, play all night, and relive memories with long time friends or family. It's just never going to happen again because we've all grown up and things have changed. Fortnite is the kids' halo and cod now and the people making the games will adapt to that and continue to make money how they please. I also have to agree with you that people can just go play something else but would rather hate, and I feel like that is because they aren't good at the game or don't like the fact the game is successful and people are making money from it. Either way, I want gaming to be how it used to be, for the nostaligia, but it will never happen.

The games might not cost that much to produce but they still have to get a team of staff working on if day in day out until the servers die
