Hello all,
I was having a conversation with a friend who wants to spend maximum of 150 GBP on a PC that will at least run Fortnite smoothly at like low-medium graphics. This is for their son, and their son really does not need something powerful, just enough to run Fortnite I've been told. (I feel like I'm typing out a meme story, I'm not).
I'm in need of help as to cheap but good parts, or best bang for buck cheap parts. This is a task I've never pursued because I'm always stuck for what I would buy for such a low budget. In my head a budget gaming PC is at least 400GBP, so this is a hard task for me.
Any help would be appreciated at all. There is no specs on form factor, it can be anything.
Thanks in advance all,
N64

He'll be much happier with a console.

I agree, a PlayStation would be ideal because he has the option to use controller, or a keyboard and mouse.

My main console is Xbox, and I prefer it also, but PlayStation allows K&M that's why I said it would be ideal instead of a PC.

£150 is super tight. I'm not even confident that buying used, you'd be able to get anything capable of playing games with that kind of budget tbh.
I built an i5 and GTX 770 system for £200, which is perfect for 1080p gaming at low-med settings, but I got some really great deal and had some spare storage leftover to re-use in that system so didn't have to buy an SSD/HDD which saved a good chunk.
If you really want a PC, look for an old used office PC with an i5 for less than 100 squids, then add a GPU, something like a GTX 950.

If it's a custom build, my first recommendation, no GPU, get a Ryzen APU with on board graphics, there's some that run for around 100 on amazon, but then you still need an enclosure, HDD, motherboard, RAM, you'll have to spend around 300 because PC parts get more expensive every day, until that bubble pops, that's what I'm waiting for.
