Hey, I really dont know who to go to or really even post such a thing, but I'm taking a shot here.

I'm struggling with trying to be happy. Been doing the "fake it till you make it" for a while now, but all of a sudden a whole new thing gets beat onto me. Guess I just broke. I'm going to try a therapist and go from there, but i need help. If you got any suggestions that would be amazing, thank you.

Quite honestly, you're doing the right thing by seeking out help; you do more harm than good by bottling up your emotions and thoughts. Often when we're feeling down, we're quick to isolate ourselves from others, which is precisely what you don't want to do - speaking to others, especially to those whom can relate in a non-judgmental and understanding fashion can prove incredibly beneficial to you.

I also suggest that you find a healthy outlet, something you enjoy doing and utilize it as means to convey the thoughts that you quite simply can't put into words - for me, that outlet has always been art. Also do know that I'm always just a private message away, sometimes things can be a bit much on us, so it's good to have a friend.

See a doctor and explain your situation they will most likely put you into some sessions with a therapist or do some cognitive behaviour therapy. Ontop maybe give you some anti d meds. I was and still am quite depressed so I do understand the whole fake it till you make it. I kept the feelings away by keeping myself active and doing somthing. I chnaged my diet and cut out all energy drinks and sugary stuff. Im not saying its connected to my mental state but when I cut it out and started going to work more etc I felt a lot better and none of the thoughts krept back so maybe give that a try. feel free to message me play games hang out or just talk

Thanks man, I'll probably hit you up soon honestly. I feel some type of way for Graphics... So, maybe I'll put my head down and just have fun with all that while trying to move forward and such.

I'd honestly say that opening up to people no talking about your problems is close to the best solution there is. People keep it to themselves because they are ashamed or think people will treat them differently but there wrong. Don't suffer in silence. I'd also recommend surrounding yourself with positive people that will make a big difference. If you ever need anyone to talk to I'm here bro

I hate the fake it till you make it thing in all honesty, but I just found it hard to actually go to somone and say "Hey, I'm depressed and I'm breaking down." Finally telling someone close to me honestly felt like a relief. With the staying busy thing, definitely been trying to do that, trying to get out more, hang out, hike, bike, etc... Staying inside and shutting down seems like the easiest thing at the moment but im gonna try and just get out!

Everyone gives great advice here, good on you going to a therapist, its gonna be worth it in the long run my man.

I'm a make it til you break it type of person also so i can understand where you're coming from. The one time i had a breakdown about 2 years ago, i actually got praised being a man and talking about what's on my chest. No one judged me and they we're very supportive in me going to therapy.

Just try to distract yourself, always keep yourself talking and laughing.

Honestly, I look at Axios and realize that I'm not too bad. Looking at him makes me feel better.


But honestly, I've been faking it till I make it for about 12 years now. Let me tell you something. DON'T do that. It sucks. Building up all these emotions that you have no control over? One of these days, it's gonna burst open and bite you in the butt.


Seek help. If you don't want professional help, you honestly don't need it. A therapist is just going to put you on some meds that'll make the situation WAY worse.

Be around people who you enjoy being with. Be around people who make you feel like a better person. Being alone is cool and completely necessary sometimes, but being alone can also be scary.

The hardest part is just having the willingness to better yourself. If you feel sad, you feel like you're a lost cause. Don't do that. You need to believe in yourself. That's honestly step one. Other people are great support systems to fall back on to during a crisis, but your main support system will in the end be yourself.

There are also many people you can call and just talk to if that's something you're into. One on one physical interaction with another person can also be hard sometimes. Sometimes it is easier to just pick up a phone and talk to a complete stranger about things. It gets rid of the biased gut feeling.

Quick thing before I go to bed. Thank you for the advice really! Opening up about being depressed is sorta weird/hard? Never been one to actually talk about my feelings so just sorta getting it out there is a big thing for me i guess. TTG is really like a giant family, which is why I think I'll always love it here and everyone that's on here being kind/supportive/etc. thank you all for the advice again, I'm heading to bed it's little late for me(3AM).. Probably gonna hit some of you up in the upcoming days or so. Much love guys, seriously.

As guys, we're suppose to be the tough as nails. But it isn't always the case, some had hard childhoods and it messes you up in the long run. I didn't grow up riding bikes and having sleepovers, i was always secluded, my brother grew up a "gangster" and got out in time before it messed him up.

I personally never talked about it to my mother because she writes books, and i don't want to end up in one of her "Novels" and i don't have a father to talk to.

Just hmu if you need to chill and talk, i'm usually on (i'm est so its 3:00 AM here)
