Hello, potentially wrong section but this isn't necessary PC related.

I currently pay for 30 MB/s and I usually don't have too many problems. But often enough YouTube videos on my phone will start to buffer or won't even load at 720p+.

My provider offers faster speeds that I will list below.

Off topic I am looking at prices and it's cheaper then what I remembered... I was gonna switch to 100mb/s but that's only 20$ more and I expected 40$ more which would give me 300mb/s.

So, would upgrading to 100mb/s improve my video watching? Is it worth going to 200? 300? They even have 1000mb/s for 90$ but I def don't think that will ever be necessary hahaha..

So to sum it up. I have 30mb/s and my videos are buffering. Would 100mb/s be good enough to never worry about that anymore for the most part? Would 200 or 300 be worth it?

If the ISP actually gives you those speeds, then obviously 100mbps shouldn't have a problem. Have you ran a speedtest to see if you're getting the promised speed?

Are you having this problem on a computer , laptop or phone? The problem may also be that your hardware can not handle playing videos at high quality.

I have. I usually get 28-32 MB/s. I have never really received less then what is promised except for one time. Sometimes experience a drop sort of thing, going all the way to like 5 MB/s but if I even notice it, it only lasts for around 5-10 minutes then everything goes back to normal.

This is with 30mb/s tho so I am not sure if I will always have 100mb/s or not.

Most of the time on my iPhone 8+. Sometimes on our Amazon Fire TV.. but usually on my iPhone while watching YouTube.

When an ISP "promises" a speed, I usually gauge it about 90% down. Reason why is they can't actually guarantee that speed to you because sometimes it's not about them. Sometimes sites just don't have the capacity to allow to you to download fast. However, youtube, as you said, should be able to.

You can always call up your ISP and ask them about your services and why they aren't working.

Obviously, the higher internet speeds you have, the less problems you will encounter. However, I know I had 75mb/s and the ISP couldn't figure out why I was getting T4/T5 errors, which always reset my router. I always got them while I was playing Arma 3 and I called them out maybe 10 times and it still happens to this day.

Some ISP's just suck and don't care about their customers. Hopefully you have a decent one.

Also, walls and things between you and your device can slow your speed. That is why it has always been recommended to use Ethernet for computer connections.

Some CPs here have a speed guarantee, if you get a lower speed than expected they give you money back or stop the billing until its resolved etc

Another good reason to contact their service provider. However, I know in the US they don't stop billing until it is fixed, at least my service provider. Still fighting with them to fix it.

I assume I'll have to wait till Monday to change everything. I think I'll go with 100mb/s which is quite a bit higher then before. And alot cheaper due to me expecting an increase of $40/mo but now only getting a $20/mo increase.
