i5 3570K
Nero 3 CPU cooler with Artic Silver premium thermal paste

I overclocked it from 3.4 to 4.1 using the multiplier.

I ran Prime95 and after 10 mins the temperatures for each core are between 75 and 85C, the max temp reached so far is 87 (see pic)

This is what 3rd party coolers are for so you can push your CPU right? But is 4.1Ghz in this case enough do you think?

Comparing 3.4 to 4.1Ghz there is a significant when I run benchmark tests.

I've had builds pass 100% synthetic loads like a benchmark but fail on day to day tasks like gaming, encoding a film ect.

If it's stable on Prime then double check what you would normally do on that PC to check to see if everything is all good.

We can't test the stability of your CPU but you can

but even if it is stable won't higher temperatures lower the CPU's lifespan?

The effects of overclocking can degrade circuits faster, but not enough to matter. For example, I had to back my 3570K down from 4.8 to 4.7 GHz after six years of heavy use. You won't be keeping a CPU for twenty years.
