Hello,

I have recently decided to upgrade my computer during the upcoming Black Friday Sales. As of now, I am using a prebuilt computer with all the specifications in the link below (Nothing has been changed). I am hoping to upgrade it to a point where I could run practically any game at a minimum of 1280 x 720 with 30 fps. As this shows, I don't care necessarily about how good the graphics are but instead whether the game can run. For now, I have been able to run most games at these settings, however, there are a few newer ones that are still unplayable. What would be the cheapest upgrades I could do for this computer in order to reach my goal, with all parts remaining compatible. Also please include links to these items and whether I should buy them now or wait until Black Friday (I am new to computer building and am not certain where to start)

Thanks for the help,
The_hunter2012

Well if you intend of staying on ddr3, gaming is basically all about clock speed so a cpu and memory upgrade. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Otherwise you can do a new build with the same case that is ddr4 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

Would upgrading my memory and CPU be enough to reach the performance I am aiming for. Also what parts would you recommend?

I'm like not 100% sure they will but I do believe they will.

DDR4 Build
------------
Intel - Core i3-7100
B250m motherboard
16gb ddr4 (2666mhz)
480gb ssd (optional)
GTX 1060 (6gb)
CoolerMaster MasterBox Q300L (optional)

*if a power supply upgrade is necessary I'd recommend a 400-500 semi modular psu.

For the ddr3 build though just buy some ram and get a cpu that uses the same fm2+ socket and A78chipset with higher clock speed.

OP with everything just listed here, you might be better off just building a PC from scratch.

and how exactly is he going to boot his system at all without a GPU then?

out-dated dual core for what reason?

No, don't do that because then you're going to have a system that won't boot at all.

OP - "As much as it takes" is not a budget, especially when you haven't actually given us "the requested performance" really. You said you don't care about graphics quality, great, you'll still be able to run pretty much anything you want with your current set-up. It's not going to be a good experience but you could do it.

If you want help, you're going to have to actually give us a budget to work with, as well as your currency since we can't read minds.

Sorry for not being clear. My budget for upgrading my computer would be below $500 or so because at that point I would be close to just buying a new computer. Cheaper is better if I can reach my desired performance for less. My currency is USD. The performance I want is the ability to run any game at 1280 x 720 with 30 fps. As of now, I can do that with most games but games such as Rust, Ark Survival Evolved, Dark Souls Remastered, etc. are practically unplayable. What would be the cheapest upgrade I could do to achieve this?

Someone recommended buying these parts to upgrade my pic: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Would this bring me to that desired performance?

No, absolutely not. Like I said above, if you bought that and tried to use it, you'd soon find out that your system won't work at all. Definitely do not buy this. Not only would it not work, but FM2+ is not worth investing in any more anyway IMO.

Yeah, so if you're not going to build a new system then I'd probably just add a GTX 1050 or 1050Ti and a 240GB OCZ TR200($40). The 1050Ti is kind of a piss poor card at it's current price, since you can have an RX 570 for less, or an RX 580 for the same price. RX 570 is a significantly better GPU than the 1050Ti, but either an RX 570 or 580 will almost definitely require a PSU upgrade- the GTX 1050Ti is most likely the highest end option you'd be able to use with your current PSU.

Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($39.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $239.87

This would let you play anything you want at 1080p comfortably. If you're happy to upgrade PSU to allow for a better GPU though, I'd probably just consider building an entirely new system as even $500 would get you a nice upgrade over what you currently have, and you could sell your current system to make some of the cash back(unlikely to be anything substantial of course, but every little helps).

Alright so your saying purchasing both the upgrade for the GPU and the PSU (A combination of about $200) will be enough to play anything at "1080p comfortably". Would those parts be compatible with what I have now? Also what would be the point of adding an SSD? Doesn't that mostly help launch speeds instead of overall fps? Overall, if you believe these upgrades will allow me to see a significant boost in performance I would gladly purchase them.

The ssd is for load times and boot times, doesn't increase FPS.
