Personaly i would get a DevKit, Not a Jtag.

But if your intending on wanting a Jtag, wait until the new Freeboot is realeased.
Then you could play online.

With your KV Problem, There are many Tuts and Topics that help you Flash a KV.

But yes wait until the new Freeboot.
