Regarding the audio in Black Ops multiplayer:
Who else is having a hard time enjoying the audio? For those that either have experience with MW1/MW2 *or* in general sound engineering, I'm really struggling to find out why certain things sound the way they do.
For example:
-Nearby grenade explosions sound like a body flopping down onto a down comforter. It's a soft and fluffy sound and in no way comes across as a grenade "explosion."
-Helicopter support guns sound like the whirl of desk-fans when they shoot. Furthermore, when they're shooting at *you*, you don't hear ricochets, bullets whizzing by, etc. There's virtually no way to know you're being shot at. By a freaking mounted machine gun. And when it's other people getting shot at, it's just some lame whirling buzz sound.
-Getting shot at by a gun "feels" weird. Once again, you can't hear where the bullets are coming from, and when you get hit it sounds like they recorded a boxer hitting a punching bag for the sound. It just doesn't feel right.
-I *do* enjoy the sound detail of the Tomahawk. The whirl as it throws and the "slush" as you rip it from a dead body are nice. 8)
Anyone else have anything to add? I'm heavily considering making a comparison video from MW2 - BO regarding such issues.

Also!
-When running, your own footsteps have a sort of delay/reverberate to them sometimes. It sounds as if there's a second set of feet pitter-pattering behind me. Anyone else get this?

The audio is just terrible.
I do better without my Astro A40 on while playing Black Ops.
It's weird. =\

Thanks for the confirmation.
I'm on TB X31's. I first had the in-game audio setup for Surround Headphone then changed it to Stereo.
