ClarkeyAUFC wrote Four days ago, I went to my friends house to mod my gamertag. I didn't work so later I went home and plugged in my hard-drive. I had the 3 RROD and obviously, I was pissed off. Before I went, I had unplugged everything to get my hard-drive out but I hadn't messed with anything. My XBox is in no way modded or even JTAG'd. It has been tampered with as I have had the RROD before but I have never fixed this problem myself. I just found out how to check my secondary code and I got 0002. There is no video or audio coming out of it and the power brick is orange when I turn it on. I haved tried taking my hard-drive out and turning it on, but to no avail. I looked online to determine what the problem is and it said there was either a cold solder joint under the CPU (I have no idea what this is) or it might be a Network Interface problem and that it might be fixed by loosening the X-Clamps. I have looked for videos on fixing this type of problem but such a video does not exist. I do not know how to open up an XBox.

I was hoping you could tell me how to fix it, whether I could fix it and what exactly is wrong.

It is probably in fact some cracked solder under the CPU, or possibly a blown Mosfet or Capacitor.

Hopefully when you had it fixed before whoever did "repair" it didn't use screws and washers as that can also cause this and... well, trash. Also anyone who puts screws and washers on a console and calls it repaired hopefully didn't charge, cause all they did was contribute to it dying.

1)If it is simply a cold solder joint (cracked solder) under the CPU, a reflow could fix it.

2) A blown mosfet or capacitor is trickier. You would need to check standby voltages everywhere on the board. and Find out where things are going wrong. This takes a lot of patience... and then you would need to replace the defective part.

3) If it has had an xclamp "fix", it's possible removing that garbage and putting the stock Xclamps back on could correct it. As sometimes the washers in the screw and washer deal cause shorts in addition to lots of other issues.

What's wrong with it? There's no such error as "RRoD"... so what is actually wrong with it?

Couldn't have expired 3 days ago. Slims didn't come out til the middle on this year and have a 1 year warranty.

Replace the drive. The laser is bad or it has a sensor going bad.
