I believe I know what you're thinking.
Quite simple:

Have 3 people with guests,
set preferences to local only,
find a match with only yourself,
invite the other 2,
don't play with the guests,
BOOM?

Seems like the right idea, but if that's what you're trying to do,
don't get your hopes up, because you can't bring guests into wager matches.
