nitz0 wrote .You should look more into adding the leds to the chassis, as you will not need to worry about messing with them until you remove the mobo for Repair,etc...

I get my boards from sickmods and usually use 3mm/5mm with the boards. Should try them out sometime.

 I dont need to mess with the leds bud!
The thing is this ok , i used to chassis mount , but it made it hard for customers !
If they needed repairs or wanted to swap to a different console , thats why i mount my leds to the lid and wire them to a dvd cable. The customer literally only has to plug them in and ENJOY!
Chassis mounting is not customer friendly!

Take a look at that pic, that is so much better than chassis mounting!
Once you try this method you wont go back to chassis mounts!
This is a trypical install, but i can change the layout dependant upon the design of the lid.
Notice how the customer only needs to plug it in place of thier existing dvd drive cable.

It's not smart to pull from 12v source on dvd..I will only run a fan off the dvd power, not leds..

I run off the psu 12v source...I tend to run 40+ leds per mod so I cannot just wire to dvd power cable. I can but I have been in the electrical engineering field and do not take chances with electricity, I tend to like to do things the proper way..

I usually install pulse chips with my mods, which is why I prefer these led boards..

You have 10 leds on a typical install...Each board has 11 Leds and that video has 4 boards for 44 leds...

I understand the customer friendly but if they need to be buying mods/repairs, they shouldn't be opening it in the first place...

44 leds is way over the top and doesnt make it any brighter! Also thats a contridictutory in terms, you wont run leds from the dvd source but you will run a fan :S
If you were in the " electrical engineering" field then you would realise you can easily run 10 leds from the 12 source! As they are run in series!
I tested for a long period before finallysettling upon 10 leds being the quantity used. In conjunction with whisper fans and core modders thats more than ample.
Its no wonder you do not connect to the dvd drive if your running that many leds its ludicrous!
I have tested outputs and voltages and during the tests there was no inconsistencies.
I say customers should be able to swap thier cases from console to console without having to pay somone each time!

This case is a typical install of mine and is more than bright enough! This picture was taken in the daylight just to give you a contrast!

Look at my avatar...2 led boards and whisper fan..Not even a fully open window(which does bring out more light) and you have nothing in the dvd drive area(another reason why it looks bright)...

It's just staged nicely for the camera

You think more Leds doesn't make it brighter?

With a dvd drive in place, that picture you showed would not look as bright as it does without the drive in.

Here is an old clear case a customer wanted loaded with ghost leds..Has around the same amount of leds and you can obviously see it does make it brighter..

My basic come with 2 led boards, one for each vent unless they want to add..Total of 22 leds...

As you can see here, without a cut, the leds put out plenty of bright..

Why discredit yourself like that. If you can present fact then fair enough. The leds on your boards are they 0603smds?

Show me one of your own cuts instean of all this premade junk you keep flashing in my thread and maybe i will take you as being credible.

Any nub can by a pulse mod or prefab smd led board ! Thats why they are mainstream.

The 2 window cuts and(Elite/Avatar) and the Youtube White Jtag..

I am not comparing cuts here...Obviously you're reaching out now.

If you want me to be honest, your cuts are sloppy...You need to spend more time on your lines and sanding..

How do those look like 0603? You should learn to read..I mentioned 3mm or 5mm...

Im not reaching out i have nothing to prove to you. You are the one trolling my thread with your obsurd claims
You an electrical engineer that uses pre modded cases and pre modded led boards.

You seem to have an obsession with my thread oh and btw i have 4 sales lined up already with my sloppy lines and sloppy work

Stick to your noob cases and noob pre made boards i ll go open my shop now.

I just realised what the problem is here and why you keep coming back to this thread.

I checked your posts and you post here spamming 360repairkings , almost 70% of your posts are offering your services on another site!
