It all works for me.
Also, I found a far easier way to get it to stick (at least it has been for me).

1. Get to the level you want to be (if you want to stay at 50 stop at 49).
2. Sign out of the guest account/account on second controller.
3. Switch lobby to Public Match.
4. Play a game (or more than one if need be) on any game type, and play until you level up. As soon as you do, everything will automatically be stuck and saved for you.

Not patched, my friend is still doing it. But I just got banned for it so watch out.

New way to check wat your rank is stuck on

Get a friend to look at your combat record.
down at the bottom where it says xp needed and shows your next rank is your current level.

So... if it says 13000 xp till lvl 45 then your lvl 44

But first he prestiges. Then when he goes to a public game he ranks up to 4 easily and unlocks the classes and his xp sticks.

Yeah it seems to be the easiest way. I put the stick at 49 thing just in case someone wanted to sit at level 50 on a certain prestige for any reason.
But I've done it 8 or 9 times now (over a few different accounts leaving my "Waltee Wartooth" one totally legit) with no problems whatsoever.

what if i just keep on killing my self and rank up ?? will i get banned or something?

ok guys i just updated the gpd it will get you from lvl 1 with no xp to lvl 50 ready to prestige
