Regular visitors of this blog will now that cheating in Black Ops isnt a great idea as it can get you all kind of bans. If you want to know the specifics of the bans, read through this article: Want To Cheat In Black Ops? Think Again
You might think, getting banned is worth the risk. But did you consider doing jail time for hacking Black Ops? Neither did the poor 17 year old hacker from Manchester [United Kingdom]. The 17 year old has been arrested for a hack that put the Multiplayer side of Black Ops out of commission. The hack was described as a Denial of service attack which left many people unable to access the game on PC.
Det Insp Paul Hoare said:
Online gaming is a major retail sector with millions of titles being sold in the run-up to Christmas worldwide.
Programs marketed in order to disrupt the online infrastructure not only affect individual players but have commercial and reputational consequences for the companies concerned.
These games attract both children and young people to the online environment and this type of crime can often be the precursor to further offending in more traditional areas of online crime.
After tracking down the IP address of the hacker, Activision contacted the police who later arrested the 17 year old hacker on suspicion of offences under the Computer Misuse Act. The poor hacker thought he could get away with it but unfortunately for him, he is now in custody and awaiting further assessment.
