Sounds like you need a new flash.
Here's a tut this will bring your jtag to fbbuild 0.11

1. Download this. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] It's freeboot toolbox maker 26.

2. Enter your cpu key.

3. Click other directory and go to where you want your new fbbuild to save.

4. Click generate freeboot and go to your original nand on your computer.

5. It will ask if the named motherboard is correct, if so click yes.

6. Your freeboot is saved wherever you told it to in step 3, rename it updflash.bin and put it on a usb stick.

7. Put flash 360 on the usb stick.

8. If you can get there go to xexmenu and open flash 360 on the thumb stick.

9. Click a, b, start, a. After that's done click back, back and your jtag will shut off.

10. Leave your jtag off for 10-20 seconds then turn back on and go through the setup of the new kinect dash.

Possible problems:
To get your cpu key turn jtag on by the eject button. Wait until xell stops scrolling on the blue screen and at the bottom will be your cpu key and dvd key.

If you don't have your original nand put flash 360 on a thumb stick. Open flash 360 in xexmenu and dump the nand. The on-screen text is pretty self explanatory. Use that flashdmp.bin instead of your original nand.

If you can't get to xexmenu put your updflash.bin on a thumb stick and turn jtag on by pushing the eject button with the thumb stick plugged in. Xell will automatically flash your jtag. Once it's done power cycle your jtag (unplug all cords for 30 seconds).

e79 could be hard drive related, try turning the console on with no hdd connected and see if it still gives you e79, other than that, yeh, sounds like a corrupted nand image, like the other guy said, build a new image, there are many programs that will do it all for you available, if you updating to the new Kinect dash, once you have flashed the new image, remember to unplug ure power cable for 30 seconds to reset the smc
