The reason they changed the rep system was because it was way too easy to rep boost, or abuse the rep system.
Someone who got rep often could just go around -repping members into neg, knowing they would just get it back.
This is an example of the old rep system:
As you can see, Dale has 1,638.1 reputation.
Each time you posted, you would get +.1, I believe.
And "votes" meant how many times someone + or - rep'd you.
I personally liked the old one better, but it led to many problems and "rep rant" topics.

I like the new rep system better. I remember when Hippie had like 500000 rep... It was so unorganized. This way is much better.

Well I remember the old rep too. I don't remember that accounts username/password, but when people had like 1500 rep they now have like 250 rep power.
IMO it's alot easier to boost but your point with the neg rep for no reason hits it right on the spot.

I didn't like the old one, if you gave rep, you lost yours, so people might think your not legit.
Lets use this one but maybe with some tweeks.
