Running off the same server, so it make part of your good connection go to your laptop and part to your xbox, so they are both getting shitty side of the connection!!

could possibly be because your mothers computer is closer to the router if ,your using wireless, causing it prioritize her computer over your xbox. or possibly her computer has a lot of programs using the internet

xbox doesnt take up as much internet as the laptop does.
