Say your on a glitch and out of ammmo, will he die eventually on his own? Sorry if this has been posted already, looked and couldn't find it.

No. You will have to find a way to kill him. Something you can do (if you have multiple people doing the glitch, and if you're both out of ammo) send someone down. They will lose one of their guns and the thief will go after the other player.
The other guy can just knife him to death then get back in the glitch.
Just an option.

No, you would have to kill him manually. Sorry, it's annoying when you have to do the glitch all over again.

He'll find you in a glitch, he always seems to. I know that its possible to outrun him...Maybe if you ran in circles long enough on the second floor he would just give up, but I kind of doubt it; you'd more than likely end up bored and give up.
I remember back before the modded Zombies got patched, deleting him resulted in never making it past that round, so I'm assuming that he doesn't just go away.

Here's a few tips that might help you out
-Answer to your question-
No the thief doesn't die (Unless you kill him)
If you follow him long enough with out shooting he will
disappear but everytime he leaves ammo. So if your low on ammo
follow him.
-Tips-
If your in a party and the thief appears, Everyone go on to the
cat walk on the middle floor and who ever the doctor is chasing
just keep running around the cat walk in circles while
everyone else shoots at him.
If he takes everyone's gun keep following him for ammo (1 person)
while the other people go to the mystery box
(I got a bit carried away in this response so i might make a "Five" Strategy Guide later on)
