Introduction
Awhile back, PS Jailbreak released the world's first Playstation 3 modchip. Since this is mostly an Xbox 360 website, I thought most people wouldn't care. I now see that there is more discussion about and it's ridiculous price of $160. I will explain to you what it is and where to buy it for $20 or less or make it for free.
What is the PS Jailbreak?
It is the world's first Playstation 3 modchip release awhile back. It can jailbreak your PS3 in about 2 minutes.
What does it do?
Backup manager to copy original games on Blu Ray to internal hard drive or USB hard drive (only works on PS3 games).
- Launch games from a dedicated interface.
- Games are run 2X faster than via the DVD or Blu-Ray drive reader.
- Support for all games and homebrew (some games may not be working or incompatible).
- Supports FAT32 (NTFS is not yet implemented).
- The chip firmware can be updated via USB on PC.
USB plug and play solution.
- Load homebrew apps or games off any USB hard drive/flash drive.
- Sets up in seconds to keep the warranty of your console.
- Easy to use with an interface that guides you step by step.
- Works and compatible with all versions of PS3 fat or slim version, including console on latest PS3 firmware 3.41.
- Supports all regions: USA, Japan, PAL and Korea.
- Automatically disables firmware software updates and alerts the bricks of console.
- Online multi-players gaming works as of now (no guarantees in the future as online gaming requires latest firmware version installed)

1. Format your USB to FAT32
2. Download Jailbreak [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
3. Make 2 files on your flash drive called dev_usb000 and dev_hd0
4. Unpack the files onto the flashdrive
5. Connect flash drive to PS3
6. Install the files to PS3

The PsJailbreak and PsDowngrade are shutdown since no one bought from them because some people made it opensource so i don't think anyone is still talking about the $160 one.
Your best making one out of a teensey usb or uses a ipod 1g or iphone 2g or 3g.
Sites like Ps3-hacks have more information on the topic.

There is a sticky of it and a lot of discussion on it. Paying $160 is ridiculous. I made mine for free and I want people on TTG to be able to be their own for free, too.

I don't think you can downgrade your PS3 with this chip.
And you install it to whatever drive yours is. You find this out by going to Start > Computer > And whatever letter your drive is, mine is K, that's what you install it to.

I do all this process but install package files doesnt come up on my ps3 and i dont think it has jailbroken :/
