Ok, well you need alot of room for games on a jtag. Dont pay 130$ for a 250gb when you can get a 1tb for 100$.

Today i will show you how to use one, you cant just plug it in, it wont read.

First you need a External you want to use.

The harddrive i have.

Choosing the right Hardrive

Well there is 2 types of external drives. Their is a normal external, or a portable one.

External

This is usually cheaper, but you do have to sacrifice one thing. Using this kind they need 2 plugs, one to the comp. and on to an outlet for power. As you can see on the back is 2 plugs, a mini usb for pluging into the comp, and a power adapter. You get more space for cheaper using these. For ex. My 1 TB was 100. They can be found just about anywhere where computer stuff is sold. These are normally larger than portable ones.

The back.

A Portable External Drive.

Now these are for if you move it around. I personally dont own one, but i know lots about them. This one only has one plug, and thats for plugging in to computer/jtag. These are normally more expensive. For ex. A 500gb is 100$, when an external for 100$ i can get 1tb.

Personally i recommend a normal external because you get more space.

How to get it to work on Your jtag.

Now when you open it up, you cant just pop files on and plug it in. XexMenu only reads drives formatted in FAT32. Normally external drives are formatted differently. And windows is designed so no drive larger than 32GB can be FAT32. So you need something to format it into FAT32.

How to format

After searching, i only found one place to do this.

GO to this site [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
And on the first NOTE click try it here

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Once you click that this should come up.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now click on the picture of the program

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now download this, it should be called this minus the (1) since ive downloaded before

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now click open and this program will open

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now you have to figure out which drive your external is at.

How to figure out which drive is the external

Click on My Computer.

You should see all of your harddrives, find the 1tb one, it should have around 950GB of space.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now Look next to the name and it should say what drive it is

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Ad you can see mine is E.

How to finally format the drive!

Now open Fat32 format back up.

Now click the drop down menu

And choose what drive yours is
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And just to be safe make the allocation size big as possible (it checks anyways, this is just to be safe!)

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now you can do quick format or not, i did quick format and it worked fine!

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And click start! It should take a couple mins or secs.

Now when i did mine,an error came up, i just clicked out of the error and it worked fine.

Now to make sure its fat32 do this.

Open My computer

And highlight your drive by clicking, dont double click

And look below and it should say File system: FAT32

It is ready for your jtag

How to use on your jtag

Now plug it in to the back of your jtag into the USB above your ethernet. Plug in the harddrive and make sure it displays a green light or something to show its on

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now go into xexmenu and click the RB until is shows USB0 and their it is!
!

The setup i recommend

You want to keep your HD organized because it will hold alot of data.

Here is how my HD is set up

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

That is the root of it.

I have my games,mw2 patches,

Now when i click on games, i have my games

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

And i click on the game, and the files open

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

How to run Games

Now go into the game folder where system update is, and etc, and click on default.xex and it should run, if you get a black screen, the default is bad.

Their is a shortcut, you can go into your games fold, and highlight the game you want. And click the start button, it runs, this saves you the time of searching for the default xex.

I worked very hard on this, Please thank the topic

(NEW) how to use on ps3

You follow up to the how to format into fat32, and plug it into your ps3, and boom, it reads them.
