Yeah they can contact M$ and get your console ID's ect, My friend did that when his Xbox was stolen and as soon as the Xbox went online they tracked it and recovered it.

They can ping you and can also look at data logs along with your IP people on here can do it so can the police. But getting rid of the account will most likely not dodge it because it was on your xbox. But if you stole someones account with a credit card on it that's 3 felony's right there.. Doing a crime on the internet is federal .
