Pretty much. Once again be VERY aware that this can brick your ps3.

I advise you wait if you arent even sure of what it does.

Im sure what it does but im just trying to reassure myself that if i make it through the system update itself then im fine. But thats the risk im not willing to take. Know the percentage of the risk? like the probability that my ps3 will be bricked?

Thank you but be advised that its more probable that it won't brick if you preform the system update in the restore menu. If you don't know how to go there heres a quick tut on how:

1. make sure ps3 is turned off
2. Hold power button until console turns on then turns off again.
3. release power button then press and hold it again until 2 beeps immediatly after each other are heard.
4. once those 2 beeps are heard let go and wait for it to enter restore mode.

Im running with a slim right now at the moment so actualy i can answer that question.
With the peek and poke it should install perfectly fine as did mine. I actually installed the CFW from Waninkoko twice and haven't had anything happen yet. As for the peek & Poke and Geohot's CFW your Ps3 should be flashed with it perfectly fine (:
