alright so i did the x clamp fix and did the pennt trick and i added thermal compound. i turn it on and then three rings then turns to two rings... which is saying it over heats but my system is cold. does this mean u have to apply better thermal compound or more of it?

What you have to do is turn it on with out the fan on. Wait till the 3RROD goes to 2.

Then turn it off, and let it cool down for 5-10 minutes.

Apply fan and boot up.

Should work.

Do the towel trick it really works...
1. unplug everything but the power cord.
2. wrap in 3 towels.
3. turn it on.
4. wait 20-25 min.
5. turn it off then unwrap the xbox.
6. unplug power cord move to cool room.
7. let cool for 20 min.
8. plug it in and it should work.
i have done this before i would post a video but my xbox is fine but i would really appreciate the rep thanks.

Do not heat gun it...Do not try anything other than the kit...You will possibly damage it more if you try to reflow BGA's with something that is meant for stripping paint..

Proper way is to send it to a professional business and get the GPU Reflowed using expensive Rework machines..

Anything other than that will only be a temporary solution.(Not including Reball)

....this really depends on what kind of thermal compound u used....if it was silicon based, then u should buy better stuff, also a reflow maybe necissary and take the pennies off it only works if u still have the x-clamps on, without them they arent the correct size and they stress the board too much
