Ok, so basically in the last 2 days there has been a problem with my work pc and I need some urgent help

It has suddenly added an icon in the bottom left next to the date, it is some xp security thing and it keeps running a virus check and saying that I have 31 virus' on he pc. We are talking Trojans, worms, spyware, basically everything and everytime i open ie it attempts to make me purchase the full xp security tool in order to remove these virus'. It also closes various Internet explorers but not all, for instance I had 6 ie's open and it closed 4.

I have run numerous scans using symantec and that says I have no virus'. Which I believe. I think this xp security tool is a virus in itself and it won't allow me to delete it from the control panel. It is flashing up messages every minute in the bottom left stating the pc is under attack etc.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it as if I tell my boss it will inevitivley be my fault that there is something wrong with the pc.

sounds pretty nasty, try AVG Free version, also try bringing up task manager look in proccessess, right click on the one you think his the virus, and click end process, if it starts back up stright after it is a virus, remeber the name and boot the comp in SAFE mode, search the the file name EE.g Example.exe and delete it in safe mode, but don't touch nout else. hope this helps, i use AVG free and it's mint, it secures all threats in a vault and then asks you if you want to delete. you can delete anything in safe mode

Maybe its because you have Symantec and window's security on at the same time. Ive heard that running multiple virus prevention software at the same time is bad because they counter act with each other and mess up. But I highly suggest that you dont purchase anything on that computer until you figure this all out! :!:
Hope everything works out for you!
