We still dont know if Call of Duty 7 will be set during the Vietnam War, but we already know that there will be a Call of Duty 8 and a completely new Call of Duty Action Adventure in 2011. Sledgehammer Games, a new Activision studio, will be responsible for the new Call of Duty Action Adventure.So, Call of Duty 7 (Vietnam) in Fall 2010 and Call of Duty 8 in 2011 are definitely confirmed. After some internal conflicts with Infinity Ward (Call of Duty 6), a new businnes unit has been formed that will continue to develop release one Call of Duty part each year.Activision also confirmed that they might be going into a new direction with the Call of Duty franchise and that they have plans to make a Call of Duty action-adventure.

2010 will be another important year for the Call of Duty franchise, stated Mike Griffith, President and CEO of Activision Publishing. In addition to continued catalog sales, new downloadable content from Infinity Ward and a new Call of Duty release, we are excited about the opportunity to bring the franchise to new geographies, genres and players.
The company is also for the first time announcing that a new game in the Call of Duty series is expected to be released in 2011 and that Sledgehammer Games, a newly formed, wholly owned studio, is in development on a Call of Duty game that will extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre.

This could be good or bad. EA tried to add new elements of other genres to Command & Conquer 4 and failed miserably, but were talking about a completely new CoD game here! Were not talking about Call of Duty 8, there will be Call of Duty 8 AND Call of Duty AA (Action Adventure).
