I think you have to kill monkeys near the BHD because they give of energy when you kill them.

Heart! I think I got it, what if you kill the monkey next to the generators in the fist room? they give off power when they die, powering the generators. What do you think?

I really think you need to take the monkeys next to the batteries. It's farfetched but makes sense.
