I believe you need at least two people. If I'm not mistaken, two need to be on the lander and one person has to be downed. Once he "lags" off the lander, he needs to be revived via Upgraded ballistic knife

No you can't do it Solo.
Start the lag as the downed player is setting off on the Lunar Lander and stop it as soon as you see him outside of the Lander, he should fall to wherever he was floating when he lagged and then you need to revive him with the krauss refibrillator (upgraded ballistic knife). Thats it the glith is done explore the top of the map but be careful you don't fall
