I thought it was just the Ascension Group they were referring to. Remember also that "Ascension" is not actually the name of the place that the Zombies Map takes place in. It's just the activation code that will make Mason try and kill the President.

Also, Ascension has been a long running theme / word in Black Ops, so they must've thought "why not".
