Okay, so, today I got a xenon JTAG. The kid says it's broken and that the power brick shows a red light.
He said that he was using it one day and it got 1 red ring. It shut off and just never turned on again. Does that sound like a legit story?
He also said he never updated the dash nor even plugged an Ethernet cable into it.
I looked in the xbox - it doesn't have a 12V fan mod. The only modification ever made to it was the JTAG exploit.
Before you ask "Why the **** did you get a broken XENON Jtag?" It's because I got it for a copy of World at War and an iso modded disc to go with it. Even though all I got was the actual xbox(No cables or HDD), it's a pretty good deal eh?
So now I have a useless xbox. I'm going to gamestop in a few to buy it a power brick(He didn't give me one.) Does anybody have any steps for troubleshooting this? The xbox isn't dusty at all and none of the pins inside the USB ports are touching each other. The RF board IS, however, missing a LED. Could that be the problem? I'm open to absolutely any advice you would be willing to give me.
If somebody successfully helps me fix or find out the issue, It'd be worth $20 PayPal.
EDIT: Bought a power brick from GameStop, 203W. Goes with the xbox. Light on power supply = yellow(standby).
I hit the power button and absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't even attempt to turn itself on. Could the power button be broken? Should I try an RF board replacement?

Is that the only thing you can think of? The kid said that the thing was working when he got it.
If that's the case is it possible to fix it? Even to just turn it back into a normal xbox?(I could still take advantage of the flashed drive)
Alright so I just called him.

The 1 red light could come from a power shortage on the motherboard.
Meaning the xbox isn't getting enough power

Try a new power brick and hopefully that works

What you need to find out first is what it will do once YOU hook it up to test...

He is saying one thing and then another that doesn't coincide with 1 red ring....

Red on the power brick is a short circuit/power short, thus causing the power brick to stop powering from hitting the console, thus no power=no red rings..

It sounds like he did something or a wire may have touched a power mosfet causing a short..

Have you even opened it up to look at the wiring and mobo?

You sound very knowledgeable. Do you have MSN or some IM and some time?
