Each time you hit a post count of say, 20. You getsome rep power. Also, people can give you rep if you're helpful or whatever. I think that's how it works

ok so if you click on your profile and scroll down to reputation, u see how many posts you have, and how many u need to get more rep power. also you have reputation points. these are point that you can give to other users and recieve from others. rep power is basicly ur "popularity"(cant use word reputation)the bottom right corner of a post looks like a scale image. click on that if you wish to give somebody rep. "i agree .." is +rep. i disagree..." is -rep

Yeah every 25 posts you get 1 rep power thing
and if someone has a good post or they helped you...look for the scale at the bottom right of their post and click agree and select the amount of rep you want to give them
And it takes 100 rep points to get 1 rep power

Has a spectacular aura about
300

Will become famous soon enough
200

100

Is an unknown quantity at this point
0

Has a little shameless behaviour in the past
-100

Can only hope to improve
-500

Is infamous around these parts
-1000

And a quick explanation -

Reputation is something that may define how trusted/safe a person is. If someone has alot of rep they are most likely a common user of ttg. For example, if you see someone doing system link with 1 rep he might not look legit. (even though they might be).
But say you see someone with 150+ rep doing system link. They will most likely look legit.

You can rep someone by clicking the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] at the bottom of their post. Once you click that this box will pop up.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

From here you can give someone positive reputation if you like their post/topic. This will add on to their total rep. Or if you think their post is spam you can negative rep them.

If you abuse the rep system you can and probabally will recieve a warning. If you do it again you will recieve a suspension. So please do not abuse it, as it ruins the community.

Here are some facts about reputation.

You can give out rep 10 times a day.
You can not give rep to the same person twice in a row.
Regular users can rep someone up to 25 at a time.
Gold members can rep someone up to 50 at a time.
It takes 25 posts to get 1 reputation power.
It takes 100 rep points to get 1 rep power.

If you experience anyone neg repping you for no reason, speak to a mod and they will sort it out.

Hope I helped
