This is going to tell you how to know if someone is persuading you,
some persuasive techniques you can use on people, and just common persuasive uses!
Lets start off like this.
What is persuasion?
Persuasion is a means of convincing people.
[*] To buy a certain product
[*] To believe something or act in a certain way
[*] To agree with a point of view
Well now that I have explained what it is, I am not going to tell
you some major persuasive tools.
Slogan- A catchy phrase or statement often used to sell a service or product.
For example. Subway- (Five Dollar Foot long)
Next up. Repetition- The name of a product is repeated many times.
For example. Proactive. The acne commercial. They say Proactive so many times
in their ads.
Next. Bang Wagon- A statement suggesting that everyone is using a specific product,
so you should too.
For example- Proactive again. They show a lot of people that use Proactive and they
say that everyone with acne issues should buy it and use it.
Next. Testimonials- A well-known person supports a product or service.
For example- A actress or singer, etc. says that they use that product. And if they
are famous and they use it, then you will want to use it too.
Next. Expert Opinion- Experts approve this product, so you should use it.
For example- A doctor, etc confirms that the product works and that you should totally
use it.
Glittering Generalities- These are used to get your emotional attention, but the sellers
can't back up their information.
For example- A ad says that this item is home-made!
Well, in whose home was it made?
We don't know. They can't back up their information
Another example is a dog commercial. Telling you that the animal is hurt.
They want you to call them. Well, they can't back up their information.
How are the animals hurt?, how much will I be paying?, what dog am I helping?
Last. Audience Awareness- Advertisers know how to
1. Target their audiences
2. Use appropriate persuasive techniques
Well, that's all for now. I will be updating this as soon as I get
more information.
All credit to me for finding this out on my own.
Thanks for reading!
