Hi, and welcome to my thread on how to mod Borderlands!
First, I will give you the requirements/items you need.
1. Modio - For modding and rehashing and resigning.
2. Xport360 - For getting the gamesave off and onto the hard drive.
3. Borderlands - So you can get a gamesave... Derp
4. A Transfer Cable - To transfer files
So, here's how it works!
[Part 1: On the Xbox]
1. Start up Borderlands. Create a gamesave with the type of character you want to mod. [Example: Siren, Berserker, if you already have a save you want to mod, go to step 3]
2. Get to a point in-game where you save.
3. Exit the game, and grab your transfer cable and unplug your hard drive.
[Part 2: On the Computer]
Note: For this part, you will want to disable UAC. This will allow you to drag-and-drop files from Xport360 to and from your desktop. Disabling UAC requires a system reboot. To check your UAC setting, go to Start -> Run -> UAC. Set it to never notify.
1. Download and install Modio and Xport360. If you already have these, skip to step 2.
2. Run Xport360 (You may want to "Run as Administrator" if you can..) and select your HDD.
3. Expand to Partition 3 -> Content. Find your profile. (To identify your profile, look for one with games you are familiar with.)
4. Expand to your profile. Find the Borderlands folder. Inside the Borderlands folder, there will be another folder called 00000001. Click on it.
5. In the top right box, you will see Save00 and a number, determining which save it is. Mine is Save002.sav, identifying that this is my second save. It is a Siren.
6. Click and drag Save00#.sav to your desktop, or a place you will remember.
7. Open Modio. (Remember to "Run as Administrator" if you can!)
8. Go to the location where you saved Save00#.sav. Click and drag it onto Modio.
9. The file will open in Modio. Click on "Mod File." A new menu will come up.
10. On the new menu, a brief overview of your character's gamesave will appear.
11. There are some edits that are MANDATORY. Set your level to 50. Set your exp to 11330206. YES, COPY AND PASTE THAT! Your exp reflects your level, so I assume you must have the correct amount of exp to back up your level. Also, set your money to something that is REASONABLE, not INSANE!Having the amount of money set to 999999999999999999999999999999 is most likely going to mess your save up, so set it to something like in the 100 millions. Skillpoints can be left at 0. Click "Save" when you are done.
12. Now, assuming you noticed the advanced tab, click on it. You will see your proficiency levels, as well as any skills you have unlocked. Click on a skill. For example, one of the Hunter's skills is "Smirk." You would click on Smirk. Then, you would change Value 1 to 5 (Representing level 5 on that skill) and leave Value 2 as it is. This can be done on any other skills. Then, you have your proficiency levels. One example is pistol proficiency. Click on it. Set Value 1 to 50 and Value 2 to 57601. Repeat these actions on any skills or proficiency skills you have.
13. After you have finished modding the file, go back to the tab "Player Attributes" and hit "Save." At the bottom right of Modio, there will be a little tab with the Borderland's icon. Right click it, and select "Restore." Click "Rehash and Resign." Congratulations, you have successfully modded your Borderland's gamesave!!
Optional: Create a backup! You never know if something could go wrong. Create a folder somewhere and move your gamesave in Xport360 to it. Now, if your modded gamesave gets deleted, you have your old regular gamesave just in case!
14. Now, find where you saved your Save00#.sav. I saved mine on my desktop for quickly finding it. This file has been modded. Open up Xport360 again (Run as Administrator if you can!!) and expand to the Borderlands folder. Click the folder 00000001 again. In the top right box, is Save00#.sav. Go to where you saved your modded file (Mine is on desktop, so I would go there) and click and drag the file into that right box. It will ask you to replace the file. Click "Yes."
Remember: Never unplug the transfer cable without ejecting it first! Go to the little cord on your task bar that has a green check mark, and eject first! You never know, you might just be the one who gets hit by the F-Your-HardDrive-Up bug!
[Part 3: On the Xbox]
1. Hook up your hard drive to your Xbox 360 again.
2. Start up Borderlands.
3. Select the modded save, and begin playing!!!
[Extra Information]
This method was discovered by me. I worked on this for a while, figuring out how it works. I did not go on Google or Youtube and type in "how do i mod borderlands." A small trick that a good modder should know is that Modio has a "Mod File" button, which I used.
Enjoy your modded gamesave, and I hope this wasn't too complicated!
