i was just browsing mt profile and it said that with my ast post i got +20 points. what are the points and what do they go to?

Im pretty sure it goes towards your rep power. Because when you get a certain amount of rep points you gain rep power.

I think that's your reputation. If someone likes your post, they have the choice to give you rep. Every 100 rep = 1 whole rep power. Try making good posts and you'll eventually get more.
