Today I am going to explain how to set-up your own MineCraft server for you and your friends to play on. I know this is not an "extravagant" server. This is a simple TuT on how to get a SIMPLE server to play on with your friends.

The first step in setting up your MineCraft server is to go to:
Start>Run>CMD
This should appear:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You will now type in, "ipconfig"(without the "")

This should appear:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Write down your IPv4 address as this is the IP address that you will need to portforward correctly. Also write down your default gateway if you have never accessed your router/router settings before.

Default Gateway:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

IPv4:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You are now done with all CMD windows, and can exit all of them.

Step 2:
You will now need to download the MineCraft server files.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Which can be found [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Extract all the files where you please, but you will need them to run your server, so put them some place handy.

Step 3:
Port Forwarding
This can be a tricky one.. but ill help you through it.
You are going to need that trusty default gateway you wrote down that appeared in CMD.

Type it in your internet address bar and something along these lines should appear:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It may take you to a new window, etc but you must sign on(if you have to) to access your router settings.
If you do not know your default router password, it can be found

You may or may not have to do that, depending if your router has a password or not! [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Now that you have your router settings off, click on port forawrding/port triggering(not all will be the same, some you will have to click gaming and applications)

Now to port forward.
The MineCraft default server port is 25565.
Your port settings should look like this:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
!NOTE!:Your IPv4 address will not always be the same as mine(although in some cases it can be!) in that last box put the digits that you wrote down from the CMD!
!NOTE!:You want the service type to be both, or TCP/UDP.

Save your settings and exit.

Now you should check your ports using [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] !
You will need to download it.

If your ports are open you should get a result that says:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Your port is open on this computer!

Step 4:
Playing on your server.

In order for you to play on your server you must have the "Minecraftserver" file running the you downloaded from MineCraft.

For you to connect you must have it running.
If your going to connect on the same computer that has the server running click MultiPlayer and type in "localhost"

In order for your friends to connect to your server you must give them your IP Address which can be found [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You give them this address:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME IP ADDRESS AS ME!

Congratulations you just set-up your own Minecraft private server. You may NOT copy and paste this anywhere else!

Any questions please PM me.
