Incorrect. Patches do not have to be downloaded.

Theres something called a "hot patch" or "quick patch" which basically just updates the playlists. It disallows things from the new playlist so that they no longer work without actually having to fix the problem.

Theres your answer, easy enough. I would have patched the instant round glitch though.

i have heard about the monkey bomb glitch but can never manage to get it under the floor boards

The monkey vanishes after a few rounds anyways, also I think there has been a very recent hotfix that has patched both insta round and the monkey bomb glitch
