Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game set to be released in November 2011. It will be the eighth installment in the Call of Duty series. Due to a legal dispute between the game's publisher Activision and the former co-executives of Infinity Ward - which caused several lay-offs and departures within the company - Sledgehammer Games will assist in the development of the singleplayer, and Raven Software will develop the multiplayer. The game is said to have been in development since only two weeks after the release of their previous game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Sledgehammer is aiming for a "bug free" first outing in the Call of Duty franchise, which also sets a goal for Metacritic review scores above 95 percent.

There is a rumor that they are using Call of Duty 2 servers, so should be easy to hack (i'm not sure if this is true).

Thank you hope this intrests you:)

Modern Warfare 3 & Information

Well basically I have put this topic together including most of the information I can find and put together so it will stop the high amount of Modern Warfare 3 topics being created in many sections including the wrong sections. eg. General Discussion. I am not too excited about the new on this game but this topic was designed for the members & guests who are big fans of the 'Call of Duty' Franchise.
Most of us like a bit of XP and knowing that we can rank up with the best rank system created in any online multi-player game on the marketplace. Alot of gamers purchased a copy of the past Call of Duty games, ie. Call of Duty 4, World at War and even Call of Duty 3. We now can see a small clash between Halo fans and CoD fans.

I hope you all understand the meaning of this topic and take it into consideration, I'm awaiting further choice if I decide to make the a free discussion topic or just create it for meaningful information about the games release. I may do both if this topic turns out a success and members respect it.

Start off:

We all feel curious about the release of the highly anticipated 'Modern Warfare 3'.
This game will continue on from Modern Warfare 2 and will be a prequel featuring Modern Warfare 2's well known mysterious character Simon 'Ghost' Riley.
There's no official press release from Activision and Infinity Ward but will be awaiting confirmation if it's confirmed or not. Most of us now hope to see a third game out of IW's call of duty series and hope it turns out a much bigger success rather than Modern Warfare 2.

There are many different discussions on this and here's some of them:

  • When the game is due for it's actual release.
  • If all the youtube vids are real and classed as 'legit' information.
  • Are there any key hints on what the game might include?
  • What console platforms will the title be released for?
  • Will the game be a prequel featuring the character 'Ghost'?
  • Who's creating the game?
  • Will the game be modified or tampered with like their past games. Ie. Modern Warfare 2.
  • What are the projected sales for Modern Warfare 3?
  • Will this game be a greater investment than Black Ops?

That's a quick run through of the type of blogs and articles you might see on the web about the game.

I have spent some time looking at all the articles around the web and found out some news, (this may not be completely true) I will remove this section of the information if I have enough evidence of this not being at least 50% true.

The Modern Warfare 3 countdown has begun!

"Numerous legitimate new networks have confirmed that in a little over five days or to be completely exact ~ 3:00pm GMT on March 2nd, Activision will reveal it's first official anoucement about 'Modern Warfare 3'. Activision has launched a brand new website today called findmakarov.com, which features a countdown timer that will expire next week during Game Developers Conference."

Leave your comments if you find that legitimate information or not, I myself do find it true.

Now I'm moving onto the more exciting and more anticipated news/articles about the games release.

Projected sales on Modern Warfare 3

Known for the popular Call of Duty and the Modern Warfare series that have raked in some insane retail sales figures, Activision is at it again, recently announcing the latest blockbuster, Modern Warfare 3, which is set to throw the gaming experience into the stratosphere. It will be a follow up to the 55 million units in sales Modern Warfare 2 and the 9 figure record shattering Black Ops.

In late January 2011, Activision shook of a nagging law suit filed by Jason and Vince, two former executives, and announced the release date of the Modern Warfare 3 November 2011. Not even an exodus of employees could deter the announcement of the official launch, traditionally November. Activision has, in fact, claimed to have recently received a whopping 5,000 applications to fill up the holes.

Thomas Tippl, the organizations CFO, is already trying to slow down the sales projections. Speaking at a conference earlier this year, he estimates the retail sales of Modern Warfare 3 to be a little lower than those of the hugely successful Black Ops. Considering Black Ops sold about 5.6 million copies on launch day alone, it is not so bad, is it? It went on to pull in revenues of one billion dollars and 600 million hours of play in 2010. Modern Warfare 2 bagged 4.7 million in day one of the launch.

Looking at these figures, Modern Warfare 3 could easily achieve much higher retail sales. While it is still a bit rough on the edges, legions of beta testers are lining up to try out the game. Bloggers and analysts as always are playing their role in wetting gamers appetites and raising anxiety levels. While the launch date is set for the fall of 2011, Modern Warfare 3 is already receiving a lot of airplay in the media waves across the globe.

Despite being outclassed by Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2 has gone on to record sales of over 55 million copies by the end of 2009. While Thomas and his bean counters at Activision are still arranging the stacks of dough in their tills brought in by these two games, they are going to have to create more space. Activision has called for backup on the online elements of the Modern Warfare 3 game and for this they have enlisted the Wisconsin-based software company, Raven. If this works out fine on the two-player and online elements (and it will), retail sales could multiply and set new records. Probably even hit the 10 million mark on launch day.

If the hype and the reviews of the MW3 are anything to go by, sales figures could go through the roof. They could multiply rather than increase, if the multiple-player and the online sections come out perfectly. Activision have put in a lot of emphasis on these sections of the games, as they know too well that gamers can easily fry the game if it comes with issues.

Well, sales projections of the Black Ops were a bit modest but turned out different. If this is a notable trend, we could be looking at a new record in sales figures by this fall.

I found out Modern Warfare 3 is supposed to be this years 'big' game (2011).

I would only aim this information and new towards the fans of the Call of Duty series, if your not a big fan of the franchise then you may not agree when I say it's one of the 'biggest' games to be released for all consoles.

Here are a list of a series of games which have captured gamers attention and have entertained them right through their time from Campaign modes to online modes, these games have had it all:

  • Gears of War
  • Modern Warfare 2
  • Halo Reach
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Halo 3
  • Skate Series
  • Grand Theft Auto

    ...etc etc ect

All these games have been in the PSN & Xbox 'Top Play Charts' for a good part of the year, they have each broke the sale records and have formed large communities and have been discussed by millions of internet users.
This anoucement caught alot of gamers 'off-guard'. Many people thought after Modern Warfare 2 creators, Infinity Ward's reputation had went down hill after their latest game had been infiltrated by modified consoles (Jtags).

Here's a bit of information I managed to find on a website:

But things changed drastically after Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward, the developers behind the game, rebelled against Activision (their publisher) over some unpaid bonuses. Jason West and Vincent Zampella, two of the project leads at Infinity Ward, quit alongside many of their coworkers. Many people thought that was the end of Infinity Ward, but that all changed when Activision recently announced that not only was Modern Warfare 3 coming, but it was coming this year in time for the holiday season. This time around, however, the multiplayer will be handled by a different developer. Sledgehammer Games will handle the multiplayer aspect of the game, while Infinity Ward takes care of the single player.

Many worry that the loss of much of the Infinity Ward team will leave MW3 in hands that are not as capable as the previous games. Regardless of that, it is still going to be the biggest game of 2011. The name alone will sell millions upon millions of copies. Already, MW3 forums are popping up all over the internet and communities are forming everywhere. Already, hundreds of thousands of people are searching for it on Google.

By holiday 2011, Activision will have thrown the hype train in full effect. It will likely start at e3 like it did last year with Black Ops, and continue on for months. By November, consumers will be going crazy for the game and it will sell like hotcakes, and fill up Xbox Live and PSN with players.

I have played most of them games but now it's Call of Duty's chance to shine once again?
Let's hope that IW can push their name back out into gaming communities and do a much better job at securing their legitimate gamers from a let-down like MW2.
We enjoy double XP but when you see people boosting like mad to get up ranks, it's completely pointless in my opinion, now people who have been playing Black ops and decided they would make a slight change to their online experience and boost a couple of prestiges have found themselves reset back to the very beginning thanks to Treyarch's new security. I had once been banned for an estimated time of 48 hours (2 day suspension) but I knew I had deserved it for .GPD modding, I have managed to secure a 10th prestige ranking on all the CoD's legitimately but I had over-done it when I couldn't help but boost right under the noses of Treyarch.
Everyone complains about being reset but it's for a certain reason, we do dislike some of the staff on Xbox & Call of Duty as they sometimes ban you and you say "I was legit and didn't do anything!!!
" but in the end of the day there's always a particular reason for it.

What may be expected in Modern Warfare 3:

Well we may expect new weapons, camo's and of course... add on's but right now I have found a few things that may or my not be in the game & also some things which may be expected:

  • Modern Warfare 3 has been an idea immediately since the release of Modern Warfare 2.
  • The LA Times has confirmed that Activision Blizzard, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software are developing MW3.
  • Modern Warfare 3 will most likely base its graphics off MW2 graphics.
  • IGN has confirmed the development of MW3
  • Modern Warfare 3 will be available to the Microsoft Window operating systems, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360 console.
  • Modern Warfare 3 most likely wont be available for the Wii just like past Call of Duty games.
  • Modern Warfare 3 is the most anticipated FPS game of 2011 along with Battlefield 3.
  • MW3 is expected to be released in November 2011. Call of Duty games are historically released in November.

Those are some details that may help you believe that this game is being created or may be started on any time soon. We all do know there will be another Call of Duty, we all like to see newer versions and newer campaign missions and story-lines which link to maps and guns which can be found on Multi-Player mode.

I also found out something you may want to reply or discuss, I found some article which you may take sides with but it says Modern Warfare 3 Teaser 'A Hoax'.

Remember the site I mentioned above with the online countdown timer on when the game is due for release? Well this article says the game producers deny creation of that site.

The article itself:

Activision is denying the purported Modern Warfare 3 teaser website Findmakarov.com was created by the publisher.

An Activision spokesperson issued this statement to IGN this afternoon. "There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call of Duty project. Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax."

When asked if Activision is planning to reveal anything on Wednesday morning, the spokesperson said "Nope," likely ruling out a possible spin-off Call of Duty title.

I myself do believe the countdown timer is a complete hoax, no one can predict the actual release of the game or if it's even going to be released the way everyone has mentioned it to be. The whole idea of a countdown timer is wrong seeing as the sites name 'Find Makarov' sounds weird.

Random Articles I have found:

Infinity Ward co-developing Modern Warfare 3 with Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare publisher Activision has repeatedly stated that Infinity Ward is doing fine since heads Vince Zampella and Jason West were ousted from the company early last year. A report on the LA Times' Company Town blog, however, tells a different story -- according to the piece, both Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software have been tasked with helping develop the next, still unannounced Modern Warfare title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

"People familiar with the situation" claim that Sledgehammer is working with the remaining staff at Infinity Ward on developing the game's single-player campaign, while Singularity developer Raven Software is in charge of bringing up the multiplayer side of things. The sources also contend that, like past Call of Duty titles, MW3 is expected to ship this November. Additionally, Sledgehammer is said to have halted production on its own spinoff Call of Duty title in order to help IW out.

Update: Activision issued a comment in response to the LAT piece, stating, "There's been much specultion recently. We look forward to releasing details for the next Call of Duty in the near future."

Infinity Ward Making MMO Instead of CoD: MW3?

How about a Modern Warfare MMO?

Like its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an unstoppable cash cow for both Activision and Infinity Ward. With such amazing success, and a carrot made of solid gold dangling in front of it, it may surprise some to learn that Infinity Ward may not be behind what will eventually be Modern Warfare 3.

Although it's still all rumor at this point, VG247 cites a source saying that Infinity Ward isn't working on MW3, but instead something "completely new."

Those inside Infinity Ward have said in prior interviews that it doesn't yet know what its next project will be after the release of MW2.

Another piece of gossip by way of Destructoid poses that Infinity Ward is hiring developers from Sony Online Entertainment and Blizzard to work on an MMO.

Given that Activision owns Infinity Ward, it's unlikely that the publisher would let one of its profitable developers drop what will be another sure-fire hit unless, of course, it's a potentially more profitable venture. Might that be a Modern Warfare MMO?

Video's Real, Fake, Teasers, Trailers etc etc etc

More videos to be added.

Well that sums mostly everything up for now, I would appreciate some feedback as this did take at least 3 hours or more to type out and look up on various sites.
I'd appreciate some replies suggesting what I could add into this topic to improve it etc.
Thanks for taking your time to browse through this. ;)

Thanks once again to people who suggested where I should create this topic, I was told I should post it in this section but this is aimed towards PSN gamers too and you should all read up on this info and not just Xbox Live/Xbox gamers.
