The Rio Linda man accused of chasing down and killing the man he mistakenly believed had burglarized his house was arraigned today on one charge of murder, according to authorities.
Sacramento County sheriff's detectives arrested Steven Andrew Zinda, left, 29, on Sunday after he called early that morning to report he had severely injured a burglar.
Deputies found 20-year-old David Valdez fatally injured in a nearby field. Coroner's records indicate he had suffered multiple blows to the head from an axe.
Detectives confirmed that Zinda's home on Second Street was burglarized. However, they say Valdez was not involved in the crime.
According to authorities and Valdez's family, Valdez was standing outside Zinda's house because his car was stuck in a ditch and he waiting for help from friends.
Detectives later arrested Zinda on suspicion of murder. He was arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on that charge this afternoon.
Zinda declined interviews with the media on Monday. Efforts by The Bee to reach his family today were unsuccessful.

You didnt do it.It was someone else dont say you didnt k pls fix that becuase your not going to trial you would be in jail probably not on a computer.
