I've had the new dashboard for a day now. I haven't tried connecting to Xbox live yet, but I used it on my back xbox.

nah you cant play on live thats what other users have been saying
im thinking you had to sign up with your gamertag and then when the gamertag signed up tries to connect it will go through since its valid for the beta where everyone else wasnt

i downloaded it and updated and i Can still play online with Friends so XBL Does Work On It
