Playing online on the PS3 sucks, and I speak from experience here. I have an Xbox360 and a PS3. The PS3 is being used mainly for Blu-Rays now though.

Online on the Xbox is way better than the PS3, and for that, I am more than willing to pay a little fee every year.

i think a lot of people would like it to be free but it will never happen and like everyone said we do get all the add ons first

Okay, so we get a extra 100k squeeky people on Xbox LIVE, the servers can't handle a extra 100k, Microsoft has to buy more servers but oh wait! They aren't making daily revenue from Gold, so whadda yeah know? XBL is now as down as much as PSN. So, No I'm fine with paying for gold once in a while.
