In their muslim community it is against their religion to have dead bodies tampered with after 24 hours.. meaning they must be buried, thrown in the ocean, or whatever they gotta do to get rid of a body within the 24 hours of his death. I guess the U.S troops don't want to disrespect their wishes and opted not to take the body to labs for further looks at the body.
